Photography is my hobby, passion and hoping to make it into a profession as I further polish my abilities. It has always been a very hard question for me to answer when someone asks me, how did I get interested in photography. I am 33 year old at present and though I am doing a job in IT sector, I am planning to open a side business of photography. Managing a photography studio is definitely not a side job. It requires full time devotion and concentration. But I am kind of doing freelance work for now and travel around during my holidays and vacations. Traveling is the best way of having some amazing snaps and I take full advantage of it. I have been able to sell many images of mine which I got printed through online services of Image-Printers. That is exactly the reason that I am planning to start a full time photo studio for this purpose.
A photo studio though have become obsolete in a way, since not many people are now in this business surviving in that business has become rather easy. Events have to covered by a photographer for sure and that is what I am eyeing for. Anyway, since my teens I got a digital camera and I photographed in way that it seems artistic to the viewer. I guess that is what we all tend to do even though we don’t have that artistic eye. But I did learn from this as what my interest really lies in. After so much photography and sorting of these digital images, I have thousands of them saved in my computer. Here are few idea for you guys who have the same situation of so many digital image just lying there in your computer.
Canvas for Sale
This idea of mine has been very beneficial to me personally. During my late teens, I went to an exhibition and saw a stall of home decoration items. There were canvas prints there which were of images of sceneries and nature. Those were sold for quite a price and the seller was intelligent enough to keep only one copy of each to make it look like unique and exclusive. People love the idea of some image that is unique and is used as wall decoration in their living rooms or bedrooms. I immediately started working on the idea and I offered the digital image to them along with the canvas print. The idea of someone possessing an image and a print with exclusive rights was quite new. I got the images printed by Image-Printers and would copy them on a floppy disk to give to the buyer. The idea was a huge success and to this date I don’t miss any chance of having a stall in exhibitions or carnivals.
Selling Your Images
There are many online selling websites of images. These images on the website are their exclusive property and all legal work has been done to protect the rights. You can contact these site and offer them your images to choose. You can have a personal meeting with them or go for online conversation and negotiations as well. These are very professional sites and respond and proceed in a very professional manner. In my case they handled me with great enthusiasm and after every few months I send them my whole collection for them to choose images from. If you are lucky enough, they allow you to have your logo or name at a bottom which is huge plus for the portfolio.
